Alongside my own artistic practice, I collaborate with the charity Cotswold Arts Through Schools (CATS). As a visiting artist, I work with primary schools sharing my artistic knowledge, running workshops and working with children to design and create art installations within their school environments.
“School art lessons can sometimes feel a little prescribed and I am seeing more and more children needing to ‘copy and trace’ so I do try to push the boundaries in my workshops by encouraging students to experiment by thinking creatively and freely with lots of imagination and less use of reference materials.
“Art is such an important part of childhood. It was a big part of mine and it’s important for children to be able to express their feelings through art. It's not easy being a kid and having a creative outlet can help a lot”
